Sustainable development programme workshop to formulate new vision

Nepalgunj, Jan. 7 (RSS): The annual learning workshop of the programmes launched in various districts under the Community Sustainable Development Programme began here yesterday.

Altogether 45 participants from Okhaldhunga, Myagdi, Humla, Kailali, Surkhet and Dang districts where the Sustainable Development Programme has been launched and Kailali, Salyan, Jumla, Baitadi, Baglung and Surkhet where the Global Environment Fund (GEF) Small Grant Programmes have been launched and Achham, Bardia and Jumla districts under the Sustainable Development Networks (SDN) have been participating in the programme.

The two- day workshop is organised to assess the past programmes and find out new vision to launch future programmes.

National programme manager of the Community Sustainable Development Programme (SCDP) Hum Bahadur Gurung said the future programmes will be made more effective.

National coordinator of the World Environmental Sector Small Grant Programmes Gopal Raj Sherchan shed light on the objectives of the workshop and operation and follow- up expert of Nepalgunj Harihar Adhikari shed light on varius aspects of the two -day programme.

In another dispatch received from Rajbiraj, RSS reports that the development plans formulation seminar for the next year was organised by the Saptari DDC, recently.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav said the people themselves should be able to select projects as per the needs of the villages.

DDC Saptari chairman Dinesh Kumar Yadav said all the people of the district should unite for economic and social prosperity of the district.

Programmes for next year were made public at the seminar by all the district offices.

At the function presided over by DDC chairman Yadav, various other speakers including vice chairman Balram Chaudhari and DDC advisor Murari Raj Kaini also expressed their views at the seminar participated in by VDC chairmen, vice chairmen and office chiefs.
