Law Needed

It is a general perception that tenants in the Capital exceeds the number of landlords. Many people’s who come to Kathmandu either for study or employment have to live as tenants paying the amount as per the demand of the landlords. Yet the relationships between the tenants and landlords are not often very good. They often accuse the tenants of misusing water, overusing the electricity and dirtying. They even can suddenly tell the tenants to quit their houses within a day. Otherwise they continue to irritate the poor tenants. Being a tenant in Kathmandu I am not an exception. With the arrival of winter season when the Kathmanduites start facing water scarcity, my landlord has already started scolding my family members and me. I do not understand why some of the landlords pour their anger over the poor tenants, albeit they pay the rent whatever high the amount is without any question. Recently I have realised that this is all because of the lack of the concerned law. Till date the mutual understanding between the house-owners and the tenants has been the only means to maintain tenants—landlords relationships. Therefore, I have realised the law that regulates the relationships between the house-owners and tenants is highly essential. I hope this issue will become a matter of serious debate.
