Pay attention to problems of farmers Butwal, Jan. 21 (RSS): Chairman of Nepal Communist Party-Marxist Prabhu Narayan Chaudhary inaugurating the national gathering of All Nepal Farmers Association here today said people are disenchanted today due to irresponsible activities of the political parties. General secretary Madhav Gyawali pointed out the need for the government to give serious attention towards the problems of the farmers and landless settlers. Politburo member Tilak Parajuli said some disenchanted youths of country have been carrying out suicidal work in the name of peoples war. Loknarayan Subedi, also a politburo member of the party emphasised the need for the government to give priority to the resolution of farmers problems. Association president Krishna Prasad Chaudhary presided. The second session of the gathering today dissolved the central committee of the association and constituted a 19-member conference preparation committee under the convenorship of Krishna Bahadur Chaudhary to hold the central conference of the association within the next one year. Parties should serve working people Banepa, Jan. 21 (RSS): Chairman of Nepal Workers and Peasant Party Narayan Man Bijukshe (Rohit), MP, says political parties should always address themselves to the cause of the working people. Inaugurating the third Kavre district convention of Nepal Krantikari Vidyarthi Sangh here, he alleged that the main political parties could not rule according to the popular will even though they very well knew the spirit of the popular movement. Chairman of the Sangh Saroj Raj Gosai said the education system of the country had bogged down in a chaotic quagmire. The convention chaired by chairman of the Kavre district convention preparatory committee Triratna Sayami formed a 9-member district committee with Dipak Karki as its chairman. Nuwakot, Jan. 21 (RSS): Polio vaccine was administered to a new-born babe within five minutes of its birth at Trisuli hospital under the fifth National Immunisation Day programme Saturday. According to the district public health office, the babe, born of Mrs Parmila Amatya of Bidur municipality Ward No. 4, was given anti-polio drops before it was breast-fed. In Makawanpur district, anti-polio drops were administered to 69,789 children under five at 43 VDCs through 389 service centres under the immunisation programme. 1,930 health officers and volunteers were deputed for the purpose. In Nepalgunj, the administering of polio drops to children under five in Banke district under the National Immunisation Day programme concluded, yesterday. For the purpose 304 vaccination centres were set up and 1216 volunteers, 260 health workers and staffs were deputed. The remaining 74,224 children will be given polio drops under the door to door programme. According to the district health office 71,753 children had been given the polio drops in december 9 last year. Gautam flays NC, UML for their roles Tribhuvannagar, Jan. 21 (RSS): CPN-ML general secretary Bamdev Gautam alleges that neither the government nor the main opposition party are playing effective roles in improving the formidable situation in the country. At a press meet held here today, general secretary Gautam said the Maoist problem had to be resolved at the earliest to improve the law and order situation. For this purpose, both the government and the Maoists should sit across the table and make their views public, he said. |
