Healthy production scheme to be launched in East Nepal Biratnagar, Jan. 26 (RSS): The workshop seminar on managerial initiative for healthy production system organised jointly by the Environmental Sector Cooperation Programme (ESPS) and the Industrial Organisation Morang held on Wednesday concluded here with an agreement to launch healthy production programme in eight industries of the Eastern Development Region. garbage, dust and pollutants The five year programme has already been implemented in Balaju and Hetauda industrial estates under an agreement signed between HMG and DANIDA. Industries selected for the second phase programme are Pashupati Iron Industries, Universal Leather Enterprise, Biratnagar Pharmaceuticals, Box, Raghupati Jute Mills, Arun Vegetable, Himalayan Soap and Annapurna Soap Industries, according to Industrial Organisational Morang general secretary Shyam Poudel. On the occasion proprietors and managers of eight industries signed an
agreement to run On the occasion, joint secretary at the ministry of Industry Kalyan Bahadur Pradhan said the main objective of the programme is to ensure healthy production by checking pollution in industries. Advisor to the programme Amar Bahadur Manandhar called on all to control pollution with minimal additional investment. At the programme presided over by president of the Industrial Organisation Morang Sushil Dhanawat, various other speakers including chief technical advisor to the ESPS J. H. Hansen, programme manager Mrs. Romi Manandhar and IIM Director Sanjaya Bikram Shaha spoke on the role of industrialist in the programme. DANIDA is to provide a financial assistance of Rs. 1400 million for the improvement of environment and qualitative production in the industrial units of Nepal for five years, joint secretary Pradhan informed. The second phase of the programme will be launched in Biratnagar and Bhairahawa. ADB/N urged to consider borrowing farmers plight Rajbiraj, Jan. 26 (RSS): Leader of Nepal Sadbhavana Party Gajendra Narayan Singh, MP, says, as the condition of the farmers who received loans from the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB/N) is deteriorating, the bank should give attention towards that direction. Speaking at the banks 34th anniversary and its employees reunion function here, Singh said failure to attain development in this sector in an agricultural country like Nepal would invite a problem of self-sustenance. MP Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav said Nepals national development would be inconceivable without agricultural development and hence, the government should pay serious attention towards that direction. CDO Balkrishna Prasai also stressed the need to develop agricultural sector, the backbone of the national economy. The supervision and control office chief of the bank Vaidyanath Jha presented a progress report of the bank. At the function, chief guest Singh presented gifts to 16 senior officers of the bank. The winners of various competitive programmes held on the occasion were also awarded prizes. District development committee vice chairman Balaram Chaudhary presided. Trade fair in Nepalgunj to promote new technology Nepalgunj, Jan. 26 (RSS): A publicity and awareness raising rally was taken out here recently to make the Western Regional Industry and Trade Fair a grand success. The fair being hosted jointly by Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nepal Cottage and Small Industries Federation, Banke district branch, was to last from January 26 to February 4. A huge rally along with police band that started from the fair site at Buddhanagar went through the main thoroughfares of the municipality such as Pushpalalchok, B. P. Chok, Tribhuvanchok and Gharbaritole carrying banners and placards with slogans like "Promote Domestic Industries and Trade" and "Make Nepal Prosperous" written on them. Industrialists, traders, social activists, teachers, students, journalists and ordinary citizens participated in the rally. Cultural troupes depicting the various cultures, customs and costumes and also indigenous musical instruments of various nationalities, students cultural troupes, sisters of Brahma-kumari Rajyog Training Centre and national level artistes also took part in the rally. After passing through the main thoroughfares, the rally dispersed on reaching the fair site at Buddhanagar. The Western Regional Industrial Trade Fair has 125 pavilions where provisions have been made for promoting the new technology and products at fair prices. Renowned artistes from all over the country are scheduled to stage cultural programmes, national duet songs contest and regional folk cultural and folk dance contests. Provision for a recreational childrens park has also been made at the fair complex. |
