Where Is The UN Park?

Almost five years have elapsed since the United Nations (UN) Park became a talk of the town. Several newspapers including The Rising Nepal carried out various articles and editorials appreciating the then government’s move to construct UN Park on the bank of the Bagmati River stretching from Shankhamul to Teku confluence. Bids were invited for the purpose and a signboard marked with the UN Park Development Committee can still be seen at a building somewhere at Babarmahal. But one finds the park nowhere in the capital. The Bagmati River bank, where the Park was to be constructed, is as it was five years back. Even there is not any sign that the park is being constructed at the proposed area. Then where is it? I suspect whether the UN Park has been a ‘cheating pot’ for the corrupt government officials and their accomplices, the contractors.
