Shivaratri, the night of the Lord Shiva, is coming nearer. A large number of devotees throng the Holy Shrine Pashupatinath with much enthusiasm and excitement to offer prayer and worship to the Lord. In addition to the people coming from different corners of the Kingdom, a large number of pilgrims, including a large number of Sadhus (hermits) come to Nepal from the neighbouring countries. These holy men consume various types of narcotics like hashish and opium as the Lords prasad. Though the government has given them freedom for such things, other people may take unnecessary advantage of the opportunity for selling and using such narcotics in the area. Therefore, if the police personnel are alert and are deployed at the strategic places of the Pashupati area, the drug dealers would be discouraged. Mohan Bhattarai |
