Nawalparasi population up by 29% Parasi, July 15: The population of Nawalparasi district has increased by 28.9 per cent in the last 10 years, according to the district population census office. Population of the district was 436,217 in the 1990 census and the number has increased by 226,274 to 562,491 this year. Briefing the initial collection of census Anil Sharma, an official at population census office of the district, said the total population, men constitute 277,153 and women are slight more in number at 285,238. The annual population growth rate of the district stands at 2.89 per cent in the district and Sunwal Village Development Committee (VDC) has the largest number of population-25069. Similarly, Rakuwa VDC with 2,575 people is the least populated VDC. The result of the hilly parts of the district has yet to come out. According to Sharma, a total of 370 enumerators and 106 supervisors were mobilized for the census of the district. About Rs. 2 million was spent for the same. Meanwhile, in Dharan Municipality of Sunsari district, women outnumber men by 1.84 per cent. The Municipality has a population of 96,365 with men constituting 47,742 and women 48,623. The Dharan Municipality has the highest population among the three municipalities of the district. Likewise, Sahebgunj VDC with 3,400 population has the smallest population in the district. Out of them, the number of women is 1,943. According to the district population census office, Sunsari, the new census has shown the population of the district as 630,335. Of them, 316,809 are males. The total number of families and households is 122,077 and 102,593 respectively with the average size of the family as 5.16. The density of population is 501.4 per square kilometers and the annual population growth rate is 2.2 per cent. For conducting the population census in the three municipalities and 49 VDCs of the district, a total of 170 field supervisors and 427 enumerators were mobilized. Kathmandu, July 15 (RSS): On the occasion of the 45th day of the death of His Majesty King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, Her Majesty Queen Aishwarya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah, His Majesty King Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and other members of the Royal Family, the retailers association central committee organised a blood donation program at Samakhushi Chowk today. Minister of State for Information and Communications Pushkarnath Ojha, inaugurating the program, asked all the people to involve themselves in such noble work as social services. Chief advisor to the association and journalist Rajaram Shrestha said blood donation is in fact a great noble work. Also today, member of the national assembly Dr Rup Jyoti presented certificates to blood donors. Meanwhile, sixty-six persons donated blood at the 10th blood donation programme of the Chhetrapati Free Clinic here today. The Chhetrapati Free Health Clinic, established in 2013 B.S., has been providing free health care facilities to the underprivileged, destitute and impoverished people. The clinic has also been conducting health awareness programmes and providing free cataract operation services from time to time.
