Harmful Effects Of Alcoholism

Too much use of alcohol has many bad effects on the user’s health. It may develop complications that ultimately lead to untimely death. Besides, those who fall prey to the alcoholic addiction also become social nuisance. One can see some drunkards disturbing the peace of night with their shrill shouts. Although many young people do not accept it, the fact is that alcohol is a drug. It is a depressant, which means it slows down activity in the brain and nervous system. Abuse of alcohol is so common in Nepal that it is available in each and every shop, that too at very cheap rates. People consume alcohol without knowing its harmful effects. The use of alcohol creates psychosocial problem in the family. It extremely affects the young people of the school and college level. Abuse of alcohol degrades the mental and social capacity of the young people. Therefore, it has now become necessary to generate public awareness regarding the hazardous effects of alcohol, not only on physical health of the individuals but also on their mental health as well as its impacts on families and society.
