‘Yankila’s nomination inspires all women entrepreneurs’ BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, July 22: On the occasion of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (WEAN), an association of women entrepreneurs, and executives of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN) felicitated its First Vice-President Mrs. Yankila Sherpa here today for her nomination as the member of the National Assembly. Recently, His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev had nominated Sherpa as the member of the Upper House of Parliament. Speaking at the felicitation programme, Mrs. Shanti Chaddha, President of WEAN, expressed the view that Sherpa’s nomination as lawmaker has inspired all the women entrepreneurs of Nepal. Sherpa, former Acting President of TAAN, is the first woman nominated to the National Assembly by His Majesty the King. Born in Taplejung district, she has been involved in trekking business for years. She said that she is committed to carry out her new responsibility sincerely. "I will take necessary advice from the women entrepreneurs so as to make contributions for the framing up of effective laws in the Parliament," she said. On the occasion, former WEAN Presidents Mrs. Shyam Badan Sherstha and Mrs. Maggie Shah, and General Secretary of WEAN Mrs. Pramila A. Rijal, also spoke about her personality. Other Stories |
