More athletes selected

Kathmandu, July 26: The selection of athletes for the upcoming 9th South Asian Federation Games continued for second day also today at the national Dashrath Stadium.

In the men’s event, Ram Krishna Chaudhary of Nepal police completed 100 meter dash in 10:83 second to grab the first position and Tribhuwan Club’s devi Bahadur Basnet became second with 11: 20 second timing while his teammate Khem Bahadur Khatri stood third with 11:25 seconds’ time.

Likewise in the men’s 200 meter Nepal Police’s Lila Shrestha topped others with 22:40 seconds which Nepal Army’s Khem Bahadur Khatri became second with22:40 seconds time and Central region’sArun Shrestha got the third slot with 23:33 seconds.

Army’s Rajendra Bhandari , teammate Hut Bahadur Chhetri and Police’s Yam Narayan Shrestha came out first, second and third in the men’s 1500 meter. In javeling throw, Police’s Khurshid Ahmed Khan was first and Army’s Dhrendra Jung Shah was second and Police’s Narendra Jung Shah was third.

In women’s 200 meter, Police’s Bina Shrestha and teammate Chandra Kala Thapa were first and second respectively while Sabitri Nepali of central region was third. All of these players have been selected for the first phase of training camps. These players will again be tested in second round of selection process before they are finally selected for the 9th SAF Games to be held in Islamabad, Pakistan.
