Maoists attack NC member

Damauli, Mar.30 (RSS): A group of Maoists attacked and seriously injured active member of the Nepali Congress and member of the Nepal Farmers’ Association Tanahun Balabhadra Khanal at Jamune VDC ward No. 1 in Tanahun district yesterday.

Khanal’s left leg and left hand have been broken. According to Assistant Chief District Officer Laxmiram Sharma, he has already been taken to Kathmandu for treatment.

According to the district police office Tanahun, a group of seven or eight Maoists including two women had yanked Khanal out of his bed and blindfolded him before beating him up.

They later went into the jungles shouting the slogan "long live Maoism."
