Maoists’ war obstacle to leftists: Oli

Damak, May. 1 (RSS): Deputy leader of CPN-UML K. P. Sharma Oli has said that as the government has been found guilty in the preliminary investigation into the Lauda Aircraft lease deal, it is better for the Prime Minister to resign on the moral grounds.

Speaking at a party worker’s gathering convened by CPN-UML Jhapa, ilaka No. 17 at Damak Monday, Oli said the Prime Minister’s resignation is the only alternative to free the country from the present crisis.

The people’s war waged by the Maoists created obstacles to the genuine leftists, he said, adding that they lacked justifiable objectives.

Anarchy in the name of class struggle will not last for a long time in the country or anywhere in the world, he added.

Mobilisation of the Royal Nepalese Army to supress the Maoists insurgency is not a simple task, MP Oli said, adding that the Maoists as well as the government should initiate a dialogue to seek a solution to this problem.

Damak ilaka committee chairman Narayan Prasad Gautam was on the chair.

In Biratnagar, Deputy leader of CPN-UML parliamentary party and its standing committee member Oli, at an interaction on contemporary Nepalese politics organised by Nepal Intellectuals Council, Morang, said that the country was passing through a critical phase and the situation of the country was turning alarming with the passing of each day.

We have not pursued the path of movement out of pleasure nor fun nor to show the presence of the CPN-UML, he said adding that as the political situation in the country was grave, one and all should pay attention to it.

Council chairman Dinesh Kumar Shrestha presided over the programme.
