VC Cup from May 13

Kathmandu, May 9: This year’s Vice Chancellor Cricket Tournament will figure 16 campuses from Kathmandu Valley will be played at the Tribhuwan University Ground.

Oraginsed by Tribhuwan University’s Free Student Union, the tournament will start from May13 and will be played on knockout basis. The champion campus will bag a purse of Rs. 10000 and a running Vice Chancellor Shield. The runner-ups will take Rs.5000 as prizes. Apart from these prizes, there will be individual prizes for the best batsmen bowlers and man of the matches for each match.

The matches will be of forty overs per innings but in case a match is disrutped for whole day then the flip of coin will decide the fate of the match, Lok Raj Bhatta, President of TU Free Student Union said at a press conference. A minimum of 25 overs per innings will constitute a match.

Referring to the first VC cup final match which has been marred by fighting and disruption, President Bhatta said that the organisers would not let this happen again as the security aspect has been given maximum of care now.

Cricket Association of Nepal has been assisting the organisers for the technical aspect of the game and has provided most of the cricket kits and other materials as well as referees scoremen and groundsmen.

In the today’s conference, CAN member Bijay Sharma and treasurer Shashi Dutta Pandey were also present.
