PM need not quit, says Alam

Nawalparasi, May 17 (RSS): Minister of State for Land Reforms and Management Mohammad Aftab Alam, distributing land-ownership certificates at a function at local Narsahi today, said that it would not be appropriate for the Prime Minister to resign just because of the baseless accusations and counter-accusations of the opposition at a time when the government is actively engaged in resolving the existing problems in the country.

Accusing the opposition parties of working against constitutional norms and values and flouting their moral responsibilities, he said the Nepali people have already understood the Maoists' motive behind the killing of innocent people.

General secretary of Nepal Sadbhavana Party Hridayesh Tripathi said that land distribution should be carried out in a fair and objective manner.

He also urged the government to take special steps to control flooding and erosion of land by the Narayani river.

MP Devendra Raj Kandel said that the present government was working in a fair manner.

President of the district land registration and problems resolution committee Dip Prakash Lohani presided over the programme.

On the occasion, altogether 1,011 persons were given land-ownership certificates for 460 bighas of land.
