Four trucks loaded with sugar seized

Birgunj, Nov 8 (RSS): Four trucks loaded with sugar and fertilizers illegally smuggled into the country were seized on Wednesday by the revenue mobile army team on duty from Birgunj Customs Office.

The goods worth Rs. 5,200,000/ was confiscated in course of a surprise check along the East-West Mahendra Highway by the team led by captain Dhirendra Thapa.

The trucks with plate Nos. Na. 1 Kha. 2025, Na. 2 Kha. 1909, Na. 1 Kha. 7325 and Na. 1 Kha. 6859 were heading towards Kathmandu, Baglung and Jitpur from Malangwa of Sarlahi district and were intercepted near the Pathlaiya Jungle.

All the four truck drivers Bijaya Yadav of Manglawa Municipality-9, Suresh Bohara of Hetauda Municipality-11, Lal Lama of Dhalkebar-3, Dhanusa and Uddav Thapaliya of Bidur Municipality-1 were also taken into custody.

Mohammad Habib of Manglawa Municipality taking responsibility of the sugar in the trucks has also been arrested while Ramnath Kalwar of the same locality managed to escape, it is learnt.

According to the truck drivers, the confiscated sugar and chemical fertilizers belonged to Iswar Shah Rauniyar of Malangawa Municipality-8.

The confiscated goods along with the trucks have been submitted to Birgunj Customs.
