Economic liberalization main agenda of NC Itahari (RSS): Minister of State for Agriculture and Cooperatives Laxman Prassad Mehata has said that some people with vested interest have taken wrong advantage of the economic liberalisation and competitive market development policy of the Nepali Congress government and called upon the cooperative institutions to be vigilant against such persons. Minister of State Mehata made this remark while addressing a discussion programme on identification of problems faced by the cooperatives of Eastern Terai districts and ways of resolving the problems organised by the Sunsari District Cooperatives Association at local Inaruwa on Tuesday. He said many incidents of fraudulent cooperative institutions cheating the depositors have come to light in different parts of the country and underlined the need to prevent such incidents. Joint secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Asheshwar Jha said that His Majestys Government has set up the cooperatives bank with the objective of resolving the problems facing the cooperatives movement in the country. Proprietors of 60 cooperative institutions from Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Udayapur and Dhanusha district took part in the sseminar president over by Sunsari district cooperatives association chairman Sitaram Mehata. |
