9th international meet on alternative medicines from Dec. 1

Kathmandu, Nov. 21: The Indian Board of Alternative Medicines is to hold its 9th International Congress on Alternative Medicines on 1st & 2nd December 2001 at Science City Calcutta. According to the press release, hundreds of doctor delegates and observers, representing a vast cross section of society from all over the world, will participate in this unique international event which will feature the broad spectrum of alternative, complementary and traditional systems of healing besides conventional and modern medicines.

In solidarity with theme of World AIDS Day 2001 - "We care to you"- this event will place special emphasis on the scourge of AIDS and its insidious and ravaging effects on the populace of the developing world in particular.

A glittering awards presentation ceremony will be held during the conference at which dedicated and meritorious practitioners will be commended for their services and contributions to the cause of health and healing. An exhibition of alternative medical equipment, products and books will also be held along with the conference and a souvenir released to commemorate the event, the press release added.

The Board’s 8th International Conference on Alternative Medicines was held on 2nd & 3rd December 2000 at Taj Bengal, Calcutta.
