Oriental Insurance launches new policy

Kathmandu, Oct. 1 (RSS): Oriental Insurance Company Ltd., the largest insurance company in the private sector in the non-life field, has launched "Nagrik Suraksha" policy which, as the company claims, is a unique combination of personal accident and hospitalisation insurance with a graded sum insured limits and discount facilities for groups and families.

The company which successfully completed 44 years of its operation in Nepal has, so far, made investment of Rs. 26.01 crores and witnessed net profit before tax of approximately Rs 2.70 crores in the fiscal year 2057/58.

Chairman of the company B.D. Banarjee, addressing a press conference held here Sunday said that there is great potentiality in Nepal for investment in the field of insurance.

He also informed that the company is contemplating to launch personal insurance programme package for the farmers of rural areas in coordination with Rastriya Beema Sansthan.

Manager of Oriental, Nepal Rakesh Kumar said Oriental has its country office in Kathmandu and 12 operating offices located in Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Hetauda, Pokhara, Butwal, Bhairawaha, Bharatpur, Dharan and Nepalgunj.

Oriental Nepal has settled more than 790 insurance claims in the last year and has issued 7,263 policies.

It is also the largest tax payer in the non-life insurance sector in Nepal.
