Laudable Acts For Peace And Stability I would like to thank and congratulate the organising committee of the Peace rally held on 14th September 2001 throughout Nepal, which turned out to be a great success. Participated by thousands of people from all walks of life with banners like "Peace for all and Peace forever, Live and let live, Enough with killing and being killed and son," the rally made me realise that after all Nepalese people are serious about peace and stability and would go to any length to get it. The ongoing violence, corruption, extortion, threats and political instability will have to come to an end. The rally has shown that not only political parties but also common citizens can organise such rallies to show their strength and solidarity without resorting to violence that will endanger our sovereignty and threaten our existence. Time has come for everyone to be united to safeguard our future both from the internal and external disturbances. Nepal and Nepalese have suffered enough mentally, economically, financially and politically because of few handful political parties leaders who have only shown their own vested interest in amassing wealth and power rather than serving this nation selflessly to alleviate our living standard to a higher level. We often see people showing dissatisfaction over multi-party democracy and trying to blame everything on it rather than blaming political parties and government that havent been able to implement it correctly to enhance overall development. What other system can be better than democracy? But democracy doesnt mean that we can do whatever we want to or harm who ever we want to. In our country democracy has been misinterpreted. There are norms and conditions set within the parametres of the system that needs to be followed in order to have a stable government and society. Not only our country but the entire world is going through a rough time now and this is the time to be united as one citizen of the universe and join hands with the United States of America and the rest of the world to fight against terrorism and stay united so that we can assure a safe future for the generations to come.
