LETTER TO THE EDITOR

 Kathmandu Thursday October 04, 2001 Ashwin 18,  2058.

Query About Nepal’s Peace  And Security Situation

I respectfully submit this letter in the hope that I could glean some feedback from you on a small matter. It does not directly bear upon on your news media, but any comments you might have would be greatly appreciated. To get to the point - I was planning a short vacation to Nepal. Recent international events and the developing situation in the Middle East have raised some concerns. I am also aware of some internal conflicts, reported as insurgency.

This is obviously never good for tourism. I am writing from South Africa and this is a topic I understand all too well. The question I have to ask is: are any of these points reason for serious concern and re-evaluation of my travel plans?

I realise this is perhaps something out of your sphere. This might not be the correct forum for this discussion either, but I have had no luck in getting a response from the official Nepalese web page for tourism that the embassy directed me to. The only source of actuality has been on your web page.
