Registration of 1,356 industries cancelled

Gaur, Oct.4: The registration of 1,365 small and cottage industries of Gaur district have been cancelled for not renewing their registration on time.

According to the Small and Cottage Industries programme there are 2,106 small and cottage industries have registered since 2040/41 fiscal year.

Ram Narayan Jha, an official at the Small and Cottage Industries programme, said the firms whose registration have been cancelled are 875 rice mills, 183 contract firms, 70 tobacco and bidi firm, 52 brick industries, 36 wood and furniture industries, 44 food stuff producing industries, 34 workshops, 15 grills and shutter-making firms and 7 oil and pulse mills.

Similarly, the registrations of one handicraft and spice industry each, two lodges, industry producing raw material for cement, soap producer, leather goods producer, transportation service, consultancy each, three teaching centres, plastic based industries, readymade clothes each, four printing presses and five medical stores. Similarly, 30 other industries have also their registrations cancelled.

Even among the newly registered industries only 35 to 40 per cent of them are running and about 10 to 15 per cent have been shut down.

However, Jha said many of the industries, whose registration have been cancelled, are running, but the owners or proprietor are too lazy or negligent to renew their firms. He also said the firms whose registration have been cancelled, can not be renewed and they will have to start the process all over again. Meanwhile, there are also many firms who have been running without registering them. We are suggesting such firms to register otherwise they will be shut down, Jha said.
