Free education to backward communities urged

Lalitpur, Oct. 21 (RSS): Member-secretary of the Social Welfare Council Dr. Tika Pokhrel inaugurated the 14th anniversary function of Kumbheshwor Technical School here today.

On the occasion, Dr. Pokhrel appreciated the efforts of the school carried out for uplifting the social status of children from backward and downtrodden communities by providing them free education, and also spoke of the need to expand such activities in other parts of the country also.

Member-secretary of the school’s board of directors Kiran Khadgi, presenting an annual report of the school, said that the school has significantly contributed to providing education to children from backward communities by offering them training courses in carpentry, carpet-weaving, sweater-weaving, etc.

School’s principal Ms Karuna Khadgi and others also spoke at the function chaired by social worker Siddhi Bahadur Khadgi.

At the same function, Dr. Pokhrel also gave away prizes to various students winning annual class examinations and certificates to trainees.

A cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
