Stop Misusing Official Vehicles

Despite mounting pressure from the public, one can see the rampant misuse of official vehicles by the politicians, bureaucrats and even army officials. Cars with white number plates are running along the streets ferrying family members to and from markets and temples even on holidays. Those who are close to the people in authority are reported to have used such public vehicles to go home outside Kathmandu for the Dashain festival. I have seen some former lawmakers and ministers go to their village in government vehicles and present themselves as important figures. What they should understand is that they are exploiting the money of the taxpayers, the common citizens, who are vested upon with actual power in a democratic system. The people too should understand that it is they, and not the so-called ‘big shots’, who are really powerful. People have the real authority whether or not to elect such corrupt people.
