Where Does The Money Go?

Driving around Kathmandu is indeed a daunting task. Especially the motorcyclists are the most troubled lot. They fall into a pothole within no time and risk the danger of being run over by the vehicles following them. I can well remember paying a couple of hundred of rupees in the form of tax to the government for using the roads of the capital city. But to my dismay I have never been able to have a comfortable ride all these years. The road is pulling apart in one or the other part of the city. Riding during the night is even more risky as many places do not have streetlights and in the places, which have it, the lights are very dim. Road construction seems to be an eternal activity. We can see half-finished roads grinning at the commuters and the riders. Shouldn’t the government use the taxpayer’s money to build better roads and install streetlights for the safety of the riders?
