Kyokushin karate to be organised from Oct 12 BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu, Sept 11: Nepal Kyokushin Karate-do Association will organise a two-day full contact karate championship for men and women in October 12 and 13 at the Dashrath Stadium covered hall. The championship, being organised to mark the His Majesty the Kings accession to the throne, will be participated by about 90 men and women players. The regional competitions in the various regional centres of the country are being organised to select the players for final of October 12-13. Meanwhile, players from Royal Army and Nepal Police can take part in the competition directly. There will be three weight category for men and they include Open category above 60 kg, 65 kg middle wieght and 55kg light wieght. Likewise for women there will be only one bout of open category. Founder and President of Nepal Kyokushin Karate-do Association Jagat Prasad Gauchan said that despite being run by its own resources, the association will spend about nine hundred thousand rupees for organised the competition. "It is the only oldest martial art association country has produced thousands of international standard players and proved that it is also the only disciplined association," Gauchan said. Gauchan also disclosed that he is now busy propounding and writing thesis on a new style of martial art which he has named as Bajra. |
