Minister Khadka furnishes replies Kathmandu, Sept. 17 (RSS): Construction of the Mahakali river bridge between Mahendranagar and Dodhara-Chandani of Kanchanpur will be complete by fiscal year 2060/061 provided that adequate budget for the purpose is available on time. Minister for Local Development Khum Bahadur Khadka, speaking during question hour at the House of Representatives today, said that the estimated construction cost of the bridge has been brought down from the preliminary estimate of Rs. 140 million to Rs. 100 million after necessary refinement of the engineering design. Fourty million rupees has been set aside for the bridge for the current fiscal year. Likewise, the Minister said construction of the Bardiya Bhurigaon-Surkhet road is already under way from this fiscal year. About Rs. 600,000 has been set aside for the purpose during this fiscal year. Arrangements have been made to provide at local level every four months allowances of various kinds under the social security programme for deserving individuals in all 75 districts on the basis of identity cards. For those who are not able to go to the VDC, municipality or ward offices to receive their allowances, the VDC secretaries or persons appointed for the purpose will distribute the allowances at their door steps.
