Land Reform For A Radical Change

The land reform programme recently announced by the government is a bold step to bring about equality in terms of land distribution. It is indeed encouraging to note that the scheme aims at redistributing the country’s arable land to the poor — regardless of caste, creed, sex and party officiation-who hold no land, the principle means of production. The new ceiling for land ownership in Nepal will increase the productivity especially in the southern plains. No one can afford to oppose this decision that is intended for a radical change. Everybody who is conscious about the present situation of poverty and ailing economy in Nepal, one of the world’s least developed nations, will support this scheme that is expected to end the land ownership problem. However, those who suffer from this plan should be given incentives.
