Kanchanpur tense as buses set ablaze Mahendranagar, Apr. 4 (RSS): All transport services came to a standstill at Mahendranagar Bazaar today as a result of the setting ablaze of buses yesterday even after the so-called five-day Nepal bandh was called off by the Maoists. All transport services excluding government and security vehicles were off the road and the shops remained closed today. Despite the assurances given by the administration to provide compensation, the transport operators refused to run their vehicles after Ma 1 Kha 179 and Na 2 Kha 5760 mini buses going from Mahendranagar to Nepalgunj were stopped along the Mahendra highway at Chuwa VDC of Kailali district and set ablaze at 12 noon yesterday. Thousands of workers who have come from India to celebrate the Chaite Dashain and new year with their families have been affected by the standstill in transport services. Meanwhile, in Syangja, Maoist terrorists exploded a powerful bomb along the Siddhartha highway at Ward No. 6 of Putalibazaar Municipality this morning. No damages was caused by the explosion. It is believed that the terrorists had exploded the bomb along the highway with the intention of creating pressure on the entrepreneurs not to operate vehicles on the Siddhartha Highway. Immediately after the explosion, the security forces have been mobilised in the district. As a result of the bomb explosion, there has been a slackness in the operation of buses during the afternoon. Likewise, the shop owners had also closed down their shop after hearing the bomb explosion but later on opened their shops. Other Stories |
