Sagarmatha Insurance Co. profits Kathmandu (RSS): Newly elected chairman of Sagarmatha Insurance Company Hulas Chandra Golcha informed the general meeting that a sum of Rs 61.1 million had been collected as premium under the current fiscal year. Informing that a sum of Rs 19.3 million had been deposited in the contingency fund, Rs 65.6 million in the current account, Rs 2.081 million set aside of government tax, Mr. Golcha said that a profit of Rs 10.220 million had been made in the current fiscal year. Earlier the general meeting had elected Hulas Chandra Golcha, Rajendra Man Shakya, Padmajyoti, Dibyamani Rajbhandari, Ashok Kumari Todi and Kirthi Kumar Joshi as members of group "a," Deshmanya Lalit Kotelawala and Ajit R. Gunavardene as member of group "b" and Ram Bahadur Adhikari And Sarju Shrestha as members of group "c" from among the shareholders. Bandh hampers economic activities: FNCCI By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, April. 4:Representatives from various organizations have expressed their concern over the deteriorating situation of the peace and security in the country and expressed the need for restoring peace for the overall development of the country. The meeting held at the initiation of the Federation of the Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has requested the concern authority not to stage any Nepal bandha that hampers economic activities. The representatives of various organizations have also made an appeal not to destroy any public utilities including to run the organizations related to education, health, transportation, electricity and water. The meeting also requested concerned bodies to solve the problem and establish peace. Besides, industrialists, business-firm, educational institutions are also requested to operate their respective organization and the request everyone help to run those organization smoothly. The meeting was attended by the FNCCI president Ravi Bhakta Shrestha, Binod Bahadur Shrestha, first vice president of the FNCCI, Rajendra Kumar Khetan second vice president of the FNCCI, Chandi Raj Dhakal, third vice president of the FNCCI, Sudip Pathak chairman of Nepal Human Rights Organzations, Sindhunath Pyakurel president of the Nepal Bar Association, Rajesh Kazi Shrestha president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Suresh Acharya president of the Nepal Federation of Journalists, Khagendra Bhattarai president of Nepal TU Teachers Association, Hom Prasad Adhikari acting president of the Nepal National Transport Service Pvt. Ltd and Umesh Shrestha vice president of the Private Boarding School Association Nepal (PABSON). Meanwhile, our staff reporter adds: A delegation led by the president of the Federation of the Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Ravi Bhakta Shrestha called on Indian Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative Ajit Singh recently. According to the FNCCI, they discussed the problems being faced by Nepalese exporters owing to the quarantine provision imposed by India some one and half years before. Minister Singh assured the delegation that the problem of quarantine and food-testing lab would be resolved soon. Singh also informed that a notification about opening of two additional points has already been worked out. The entire export of agriculture products, medicinal plants and herbs have been stopped from Nepal due to the imposition of quarantine rule by a circular from Plant Protection Officer on February 19, 2001. Since then, Panitanki in West Bengal has become the only authorised entry point. |
