Himal Cement to be shifted out of valley Kathmandu, Apr. 10 (RSS): Assistant Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Prakash Bahadur Gurung has said that the Himal Cement Factory was being translocated outside Kathmandu Valley and this measure would help control pollution in the valley. Responding to a question raised by Laxmi Das Manandhar of CPN-UML during question-answer time at the National Assembly today, he said all employees of the cement company are to be retired with one month's pay as per the pay scale at the beginning of service for every year they have been with the company, in addition to all the other facilities they are entitled to under company regulations. The report prepared by a committee constitued by the ministry to look for an appropriate site for translocating the cement factory had already been received, he said adding that a decision was pending because a writ petition filed at the supreme court by labourers at the factory had yet to be disposed of. Assistant Minister Gurung, in response to a question from MP Rup Jyoti, said the patent, design and trademark act 2022 article l6(l) provides for the registation of one's trademark at the Department of Industry, and as the law prohibits use of a registered trademark without permission from the trademark owner or its emulation in such a way as to deceive the public, the interests of consumers had been safeguarded. Under the provisions of the law foreign products with the same trademark can be stopped or discouraged from being imported, but the law does not protect any trademark not registered in Nepal, he said. |
