Overcome Fear, Protest Against Bandhs It would be in all the three examinations of the BBS level that I, along with my third year level colleagues, would be walking on foot to the exam centre to appear in the examinations if the so-called Baishakh 10-14 closure called by the Maoists is not withdrawn. If not by Maoists in all the three occasions, it is the political parties that have been causing inconvenience to the students and the public life by frequently announcing bandhs which the general public hate the most. What is more saddening is that the organisers each time declare bandh a success due to public support. It is not the bublic who likes closures and vandalisation of public properties. Indeed, the organisers have always been taking advantage of our fearfulness and have been organising bandhs. What they would do if we all protest the bandhs by making the days as usual ? If we continue to close our shops and halt traffic they would be encouraged to organise further bandhs in the days to come and we will have to suffer more. Why not to protest against such useless bandhs ? Kishore Odari |
