Jute bags exhibition

Kathmandu (RSS): Minister of State for Water Resources Narayan Sharma Poudel, initiating an exhibition of bags made of jute in substitution of plastic bags organised by Tomorrow’s Nepal, a non-governmental organisation here the other day, stressed that appropriate programmes should be introduced to get used to jute bags in the days ahead.

With the production of jute bags, environment degradation can be checked and unemployment problem solved to a great extent, he added.

On the occasion, Poudel felicitated senior artists Indira Shrestha, Ram Sharan Darnal, Hariman Shrestha, Narayan Devi Pradhan and Narayan Rayamajhi in recognition of their valuable contribution to the preservation and the promotion of classical music, folklore and dance.


Joint investment urged

Kathmandu (RSS): Minister of State for Urban Development of Hariyana State of India Subash Goel said that the ancient temples and lively art and craft of the Hindu Kingdom of Nepal have boosted tourism development in the country.

Speaking at a reception organised by Nepal Chamber of Commerce in honour of the visiting seven-member delegation led by state minister Goel here on Wednesday, Goel said the state of law and order in Nepal is improving and expressed confidence that Indian tourists to Nepal would increase.

President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Rajeshkaji Shrestha lauded the contribution made by India in the economic development of Nepal and pointed out the need for joint investment in communications, transport and power management in the urban areas of Nepal.

Outgoing president of the Chamber Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, president of Builders Association Jip Tshering Lama, president of Nepal Readymade Garment Association Kiran Prakash Shakha and other speakers also expressed their views.


FNCCI team leaves for Pakistan

Kathmandu (RSS): A four-member delegation led by the first vice-president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and coordinator of Nepal-Pakistan economic Group Binod Kumar Shrestha left here Wednesday for a five-day tour of Pakistan.

During the tour, the delegation will also take part in the meeting of Nepal-Pakistan Joint Vocational Council to be hosted by the Federation of Paskistani Chambers of Commerce and Industries.

Chairman of FNCCI, Human Resources Development Committee Dhruba Kumar Shrestha, Press and Public Relations Committee co-chairman Pradipjung Pandey and executive member of Nepal Readymade Garment Association Basudev Giri are other members of the delegation.
