It is saddening to know that the Melamchi Water Supply Project was forced to delay its work due to financial and security reasons. It was a matter of happiness for Kathmanduites when the Project was launched and donor agencies committed for providing loans and other technical support. Now when the people are flocking into the Valley for security reasons and the population of the Valley is soaring high, it is an uphill task on the part of the government to provide the denizens with drinking water facility in the existing water supply channels. The government should be very serious about the timely completion of the Project work before the Valley becomes too dry to quench its thirst. Janak Humagain |
