Terrorists destroy Lamidanda airport terminal

By Our Correspondent

Biratnagar, Apr. 29: A gang of Maoist terrorists destroyed the tower and terminal building at the Lamidanda airport last night.

Ram Bahadur Thapa, chief of Biratnagar Regional Airport, said armed terrorists attacked on the airport at 12:30 last night, damaging property worth hundreds of thousands rupees.

Thapa said all flights to Lamidanda have been postponed from today. "Passengers scheduled to fly from Biratnagar to Lamidanda today are stranded."

The Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC) would operate three flights a week from Biratnagar to Lamidanda.

The terrorists had attacked on Bhojpur and Phaplu airports earlier. After minor repair, flights to Phaplu operate again. But the Bhojpur airport is still closed due to severe damage.
