NAFS hosts reception to greet Australian
envoy KATHMANDU, Aug. 24: President of Nepal Australia Friendship Society (NAFS) Shreeram Lamichhane hosted a reception here Friday evening to congratulate Australian Ambassador to Nepal Crispin Conroy and Mrs. Esperaneza Martinez Conroy for their marriage recently and to welcome Richard Neumann from Dfat, Canberra to the Kingdom of Nepal. Australian Ambassador to Nepal Crispin Conroy married Ms. Esperaneza Martinez recently in Bhutan. Richard Neumann, an employee under the Australian Foreign Ministry looking after the South Asian desk, was in Kathmandu for the observation tour about the Australian projects being conducted in Nepal. Neumann left to his hometown today after three days stay in Kathmandu. He arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday after concluding his observation visit to Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Speaker of the House of Representatives Taranath Ranabhat gave away gifts, on behalf of the society, to Australian Ambassador Conroy and Neumann on the occasion. Speaking at the function Ambassador Conroy stressed on the existing ties between Nepal and Australia. Mrs. Conroy said, "We will never forget Nepal in our life because we met here in this beautiful Himalayan Kingdom and got success in choosing life partner." Richard Neumann said that he was very much impressed from the Nepalese people's hospitality and the cultural heritage of Nepal. He also stressed on the need to work hard for the development of the country. The students welcomed the Ambassador and his spouse and Neumann in a traditional Nepalese custom. Veteran singer Kiran Pradhan entertained the guests by
singing the songs on the occasion. Members of the National Planning Commission, ex-ministers, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, President of the Nepal Journalist Association were among others who attended the function. Other Stories |
