SAARC enhances rapport on social sector: Chand RSS KATHMANDU, Dec. 8: Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has said that the SAARC is a clear manifestation of the determination of the peoples of South Asia to look beyond the present and work for enhancing greater understanding, trust and friendship in the region. In a message on the seventeenth anniversary of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) today, Prime Minister Chand has said that as a regional forum of the South Asian countries, the SAARC has brought us all together with the view to promoting cooperation and common understanding for the greater welfare of the peoples of South Asia through the acceleration of economic growth, social progress and cultural development. "As a chairman of the SAARC, I am happy to note that the SAARC has continued to lay stress on the alleviation of poverty, acceleration of integrative process in the economic field and enhanced level of cooperation on the social sector", Prime Minister Chand has said in the message. Prime Minister Chand has also expressed confidence that while building upon our past achievements, we would be able to further strengthen SAARC activities with a vision and sustained efforts of all in the days to come.
