Thirteen teams to play Kings Cup By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, Feb. 11: Thirteen teams from Nepal and India will participate in the Kings Soccer Cup to be held from 13th February. The tournament is being organised by the Nepal Sports Club. The tournament to be organised in the knockout basis is being held to mark the His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Devs accession to the Throne and to celebrate the birth anniversary of His Late Majesty King Tribhuwan Bir Bikram Shah. The tournament, which will have two teams from Sikkim and Darjeeling of India, will feature eleven A division teams from Nepal and will be played at the Dashrath National Stadium in Kathmandu. National Sports Council has already consented to provide the stadium for the organisation of the tournament. The teams from Nepal include: Mahnedra Police Club, Jawalakhel Youth club, Naxal Yuva Mandal, Boys Union, Kathmandu Club, Three Star club, Kharsang Club, Manang Marshyangdi Club, Sankata Boys Sports Club, ANFA Academy, NRT, Tribhuwan Club and Sikkim. The three seniro divison teamsRCT, Galaxian club and Friends Club will be missing the tournament. The tournament organising committee has been formed under the convenership of Tashi Ghale. The winners of the tournament will receive fifty thousand rupees. The teams reaching semifinals will get twenty thousand rupees each. The tournament committee will also hand over the best player award. Player nominated as the best player will receive a Yamaha Crux motorcycle. The teams particpating in the first round will receive ten thousand rupees while those reaching quarterfinal round will get Rs. 15, 000. At a press conference organised today, Tashi Ghale said that the whole tournament would cost about 1.35 million rupees. The All Nepal Football Association have Okayed to help provide technical assistance to Nepal Sport Club. At the press conference, Nepal Sports Club Presidnet Bikram Bahadur Bam, General Secretary Pushkar Pant and tournaments economic committee coordinator Lalit Krishna Shrestha and Rabindra Shrestha and Aashis Bista from the Gorkha Brewery, the sponsors of the tournamenr were present today. Birgunj (RSS): Galaxian Club, Kathmandu defeated Youth Sports Club, Birgunj 3-1 in the inaugural game of the 10th martyr Tejbahaur Amatya Gold Cup Football Tournament that kicked off here on Sunday. Todays match is scheduled to be held between Patna of India and RCT, Kathmandu. Meanwhile in Bhaktapur, Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality Prem Suwal gave away letters of appreciation to various individuals, organisations, media persons and industrialists who contributed to the successful holding of the third nationwide Workers Cup Volleyball Tournament. Altogether 13 teams from across the country had taken part in the tournament organised by Bhaktapur Youth Sports Group from January 23 to 29. |
