2,226 ex-bonded labourers rehabilitated Dhangadhi, Feb. 15 (RSS): His Majesty's Government has, in accordance with its policy of rehabilitating all the emancipated bonded labourers by the month of Magh, 2058 B.S., rehabilitated 2,226 out of total of 2,500 bonded labourers in Kailali district till February 12. According to the District Land Reforms Officer Maheswore Neupane, the remaining 274 bonded labourers of Thapapur, Pabera, Udashipur could not be rehabilitated within the stipulated time because of the law and order situation and other problems in the district. They will be rehabilitated in the near future, he added. The landless bonded labourers have been provided three to five kathas of land at Manhera, Geta, Malakheti, Sripur, Chaumala, Kota Tulsipur, Urma, Hasuliya, Darakhsadepani, Matharaiya, Bauniya, Joshipur, Narayanpur and others places of Kailali district. Altogether 504 bighas of forest land and 75 bighas and six kathas of arable land have been provided to the landless bonded labourers for their rehabilitation. Of the 2,483 emancipated bonded labourers occupying arable public land, land ownership certificates have already been provided to 1,852 bonded labourers while others occupying land by encroaching grasing land, roads and canals have been provided land in other places.
