Sripanchami today

Kathmandu, Feb.17 (RSS): Sripanchami or Saraswati Puja is being observed throughout the country today by performing worships at various shrines of goddess Saraswati.

Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and creativity, and poets, litterateurs, learned persons and students in particular offer prayers and worship to the goddess on this day.

Goddess Saraswati, referred to as Bagdevi in the Rigdeva, is worshipped with much gaiety at schools and colleges.

According to another belief, those who follow tantrism, worship Saraswati as the goddess Tara.

As knowledge and good qualities are attained through devotion to the goddess today, this day is considered to be of special importance.
