Yamaha plans to introduce new model motorcycles

By A Staff Reporter

Kathmandu: Masahiko Shibuya, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor India Ltd. (YMIL), handed over a cheque worth Rs. 105,900 to Yam Bahadur Rai, winner of Yamaha’s free Japan tour scheme of last autumn.

Rai, who comes from Ilam district, had opted for cash instead of the tour to Japan.

During his three-day long business promotion trip to Nepal, Shibuya had a first-hand feeling of the motorcycle market here.

"As Yamaha is totally owned by YMIL of Japan, there is no difference between the Yamaha brand bikes manufactured in Japan and India," he said.

He further said that YMIL has adopted a policy to bring out new models of bikes every year considering the constant appreciation of the Yamaha products from the customers in the entire South Asian region.

In 2002, it is planning to introduce two new models.

Completing his trip to Nepal, he left Kathmandu recently.

According to Morang Auto Works, distributor for Yamaha bikes for Nepal, which has been selling Yamaha bikes for the last 26 years, four models of Yamaha brand bikes are available in Nepal. They are YBX, YD, CRUX and CRUX-R).
