Clear The Road

Despite the efforts of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City authority to keep the city clean and well managed, there have been many flaws that are responsible for giving an ugly look to the capital. And these problems are not big ones and do not call for a huge amount of money or large human resources for solution. The metropolis has employed its own police force for the management of various things. One of their jobs is to discourage the street shops that cause much nuisance to the pedestrians forcing them to use road instead of the sidewalks. But this is not the case at many places, the bridge over Bishnumati River near Bhimsensthan being the most obvious example. The footpath on the bridge has completely been occupied by the vegetable vendors compelling the passers-by to walk on the motorway. This runs a risk of serious road accidents in that busy area. Even if this problem has not come under the notice of the city authority, I as a road user urge them to manage it for the common good.
