We were very glad when we first heard that an exhibition of the photographs of His late Majesty King Birendra, Her late Majesty Queen Aishwarya and other late members of the Royal family was going to be held at Shree Panch Birendra Internation Convention Centre, New Baneswhore. We eagerly waited for the opening day of the exhibition and finally it was opened as per the schedule of the programme. We were so curious that the next day we visited the Covention Hall hoping to observe the photographs and stood in a long queue. It was too hot and we had no umbrellas, yet we braved the sun and continued standing in the serpentine line. Unfortunately, we failed to reach the entrance gate before it was five in the afternoon and we were compelled to return home without observing the exhibition. But we were not tired and we again went there on the closing day. The crowd was bigger than that of the previous day, yet we stood on the queue. We were very hopeful that we would be able to watch the photographs of our dear late King, Queen, Crown Prince and other Royal family members. But again the fate went against us and we failed to reach the entrance gate before the exhibition was closed. Only six of our friends who were ahead of us in the queue could enter and enjoy the exhibition but other nine students including me could not observe the photographs. Hopeless, we then returned home. In fact, the duration (five-day) of the exhibition was very short in comparison to the people interested to observe it. Many other people including the students met the same fate that we faced. Therefore, we kindly request the concerned authorities to organise similar exhibition in Kathmandu for at least fifteen days so that all interested people can observe the photographs of our late King and Queen.
