This is in reference to a news item about the increase in the service charge by the cable TV operators. The news has it that the local government body in Biratnagar issued a warrant letter to the two cable operators there for raising the service tariff at the same time thereby violating the consumer protection act-2054. This indeed is a good move on the part of the respective government body which is trying to act against those who try to violate the consumers rights. But there are several instances where it is only the consumers who have been exploited a lot. It is not only the cable operators or any one or two businesses that have earned a hefty sum of money by violating the rules and regulations but there are hundreds of businesses on the same track. This badly affected the system. If the press and the government work together and bring the culprits to book, people will not be exploited in future and the system will work. Santosh
