NC expels twelve CWC members By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 29: The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress chaired by Prime Minister and its President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expelled 12 members the party's CWC from the party's Mahasamiti members for working against the party's interests. A press statement signed by spokesman Hom Nath Dahal and issued today said those expelled are Ms. Shailaja Acharya, Sushil Koirala, Govinda Raj Joshi, Bal Bahadur Rai, Mahanta Thakur, Arjun Narsingh K.C., Baldev Sharma Majgainya, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Narahari Acharya, Prakash Koirala, Mahesh Acharya and Ramchandra Poudel. According to the party statute, those who are not the Mahasamiti members cease to be the member of the party's central committee members. Thus, they no longer remain members of the party's central working committee. "The party has found evidences of them working against the party's interests," the statement reads. The meeting today made serious discussions on the existing political situation and took several other decisions, the release said. Under the decisions, central committee member Bimalendra Nidhi has been given the responsibility submit report with suggestions and recommendations on making the Nepal Students' Union, the student-wing of the party, strengthen, invigorate and expand the organisation by discussing and conferring with the student union's former presidents and current leaders. The CWC also decided to express to the commission for demarcating the election constituencies its concern that the demarcation of the constituencies should be made according to the spirit, norm, intention and the accepted principle of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal 2047. The CWC meeting has also appointed former MP Jeevanprem Shrestha as the chief secretary of the party's central office. The CWC will meet again on Monday. Other Stories |
