NSP's 6-point suggestion to EC By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 29: The Nepal Sadhavabana Party presented a 6-point suggestion to the commission for Delineating Electoral Constituency Friday, which include delineation of the electoral constituencies on the basis of universal principle of representation under population, geography and cultural uniformity. The party has also called for fixing the consttuencies under the country's constitution and the Electoral Constituency Delineation Act-2047 on the basis of population according to the national consensus. The party has said the determination of the electoral constituencies according to the geographical regions. Party general secretary Hridesh Tripathy and party spokesman Muktinath Mandal presented their party's suggestions to the commission. Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): Chairman of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee Dr. Keshar Jung Rayamajhi released a book entitled "Genealogy of the Shah dynasty" here today on the occasion of the 56th auspicious birthday of His Majesty the King. The book was written by Dinesh Rajbhandari On the occasion, chairman Rayamajhi said national unity is not possible in the absence of monarchy. Nepalese people have considered Prithvi Narayan Shah the Great as a symbol of freedom, he said, adding that Nepal never ever became a colonial state because of his contributions. Author of the book Rajbhandari said that the book not only dealt with modern Nepal and the divided states prior to unification of the country, but also briefed about the ancestors of Shah dynasty who used to rule in Chitaudhgadh of Mewang district in India. Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Nepal Pamela Jayasekera Deen left Kathmandu today on completion of her assignment in Nepal. She was seen off at Tribhuwan International Airport by ADC to His Majesty the King and protocol officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has, in a message sent to Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China Zhu Rongji, today, expressed deep sorrow over the heavy loss of lives and property because of recent floods in China. In the message, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Chinese people, government and affected families on behalf of His Majesty's Government of Nepal. Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): Four terrorists have been gunned down in the latest action of the security forces. According to the Ministry of Defence, two terrorists were killed at Jumlakot area of Jumla district and one at Pratappur area of Kailali district in the encounter yesterday with the security forces that was carrying out search operation. One terrorist died in an encounter today with the security forces at Jarayotar ilaka of Bhojpur district. The security forces have recovered guns, pistols, socket bombs, combat uniforms and explosives from the site of incident. A woman and a child injured in the cross firing between the security forces and the terrorists at Jarayotar ilaka of Bhojpur district have been airlifted to Kathmandu by Royal Nepalese Army helicopter for medical treatment, the ministry has stated. RPPhopes to emerge as leading party Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): Vice-president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani has said that as other parties are inefficient in running the government, RPP will emerge as an alternative force in the ensuing elections. Inaugurating the RPP Gorkha-Kathmandu Liaison Committee office here today, RPP vice-president Dr. Lohani called upon the party activists to visit each and every village as early as possible to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections. RPP central member Bhuvan Pathak said that as RPP possessed experienced persons with a clear vision, there was no option to it in the country. President of RPP Gorkha-Kathmandu Liaison Committee Nanda Bahadur Pant presided over the meeting. Kathmandu, June 29 (RSS): A discussion programme was held here today to assess the collected compositions of litterateur Modnath Prashrit. Litterateurs Ishwar Ballabh, Kamal Mani Diskhit, Krishna Chandra Singh Pradhan, Dr. Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai, Narahari Acharya, Bamdev Gautam, Madan Mani Dikshit, Pradeep Gyawali and Lokendra Bahadur Chand praised the literary originality and creativity of Prashrit and said that the collected compositions published in seven volumes would help enrich the literature. At the programme chaired by senior litterateur Krishna Prasad Parajuli, litterateur Madan Mani Diskhit expressed surprise for not including the epic of "Manav" that had been honoured with Madan award in the works of the author. Author Prashrit said that he himself had undertaken the task of distribution to make his compositions reach the targetted group. The programme was co-hosted by Royal Nepal Academy and Pairavi books and stationeries which publishes books. |
