The number of disobedient riders and motorists seems to be on the rise in the capital city. With the unprecedented growth in the number of vehicles plying on the streets of Kathmandu, the traffic cops are having a tough time. More so when the drivers, be they of big or small vehicles seem to violate the rules. Had it been in other countries where lax laws arent existing, the violators would have been booked immediately for stringent action. But it seems that in Nepal where most of the time one sees the rules being flouted, one motorist always poses danger to the other. Even when the red lights are on, violators try to take a chance and give perpetual headaches to the cop on duty. Unless such violators are punished immediately, the streets of Kathmandu will go on posing risks to the pedestrians and obedient drivers alike. Bipin Shrestha |
