16 terrorists gunned down, weapons, bombs seized By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, March 12: Security forces killed 16 terrorists and arrested five others in operations carried our in different parts of the country on Monday, the Defence Ministry said today. The security personnel gunned down six armed terrorists in separate encounters in Badalkot of Kalikot, four in Mehalkuna of Surkhet, three in Baruliya of Salyan and one each in Neulpur of Bardiya, Dhabe of Gorkha and Doladi of Baglung. Weapons, socket bombs and equipment for use in setting up electric ambushes were recovered from the sites. In another incident, the Ministry statement said, the terrorists suffered heavily in Dana of Myagdi Monday while a patrol team destroyed an ambush set up with the help of bucket bombs by armed terrorists there. The forces recovered two bucket bombs each containing 15-kg of explosives and a 1,000-metre long electric wire. The security forces did not suffer any casualties. In the course of their operation, the security personnel have taken three persons into custody from Doladi of Baglung and two each from Musewa and Sedina of Panchathar, according to the statement. They also seized 20 guns in Pandekhani and Ramuwa of Baglung and six muskets in Oyam area of Panchthar. Meanwhile, two security personnel sustained injuries when a patrol team that was heading towards Tiwari Bhanjyang in Bhojpur fell in to an ambush laid by the terrorists. The statement also said that the local people of Doti district have collected 11 guns and handed them over to the security forces. Other Stories |
