Parties protest UML symbol in Jhapa DDC office

Bhadrapur, Mar. 12 (RSS): A joint press release issued here today on behalf of the Nepali Congress, the RPP, Nepal Sadbhavana Party and independent Jhapa DDC assembly members has objected to the inscription of the CPN-UML election symbol on the brass sign board of the newly constructed Jhapa DDC office building.

Since all local bodies, elected representatives and the people in general have directly or indirectly contributed to the construction of the DDC office building, the CPN-UML’s act is not something that can be accepted, the press release said.

As all members at the Jhapa DDC assembly meeting except those representing the CPN-UML, protested against the CPN-UML’s act, the DDC continued with the assembly meeting even in the absence of other members. It concluded hastily and in a conspiratorial manner, according to the press release.

They have also urged the CPN-UML to remove its election symbol from the DDC signboard and warned that if the later ignores their demand, they will even take the issue to court.

They walked out of the assembly meeting on March 9 in protest.
