Timely Intervention

The Kathmandu valley was referred to as a valley that is beyond compare both by insiders and outsiders. The sad part of the story is that the saying did not hold true for long. With the high rate of migration into the valley, the population pressure grew manifold. The lack of town planning coupled with other factors such as tendency of people to encroach open spaces came as curse to the once pristine environment of the valley. It was only recently that the Municipal authority took the initiative to preserve places having aesthetic importance. The ongoing demolition drive south of historic Ranipokhari has come as heartening news to the valley dwellers. Now the valley dwellers can heave a sigh of relief that many more such areas of tourist importance will get the desired attention. Giving the due credit to the Municipal Corporation, let us hope that the valley turns into a better place to live in.
