Make security agencies more effective: Tarun Dal Butwal, Mar. 24 (RSS): A national gathering of Nepal Tarun Dal town officials which concluded here today underlined the need of ending the actions being taken by security agencies within the Constitutional framework to end murder, violence and terror. The gathering also called on the government to make more effective all agencies mobilised against terrorism and on all political forces, the civil society and social organisations to cooperate with the government for this. The gathering also drew the governments attention to the need of making available assistance to the victims of terrorism and demanded the government should make the needful arrangement for security and transport for SLC exams. The concept of broader democratic alliance floated by NC president Girija Prasad Koirala was also welcomed on the occasion. The gathering also urged the political parties, parliament and the government to come up with concrete decisions on constitution amendment by taking the issue among the people since it is a very sensitive issue. The gathering welcomed the Judicial Commission formed to look into properties and spoke of the need to bring into net of inquiry high ranking officials of the Royal Nepal Army and Nepal Police. Stating that it is a welcome thing that the National Womens Commission and the National Dalit Commission have been passed through parliament, the gathering laid stress on the need of effective implementation to ensure womens participation in political and social fields. Bhadrapur, Mar. 24 (RSS): Maoist terrorists have torched the local Mahabhara and Topgachhi Village Development Committee (VDC) offices last night. All the documents and furniture belonging to the VDC and the post office and documents and medicines at the sub-health post office were destroyed in the fire at the Mahabhara VDC office, according to VDC chairman Bijaya Kumar Agrawal. Similarly, furniture and documents of the VDC were completely damaged in the fire at the Topagachhi VDC office. The fire also caused damage to the building. Likewise, the Maoist terrorists are reported to have vandalised the VDC secretarys office at the Jyamirgadhi VDC office last night. Meanwhile, in Gorkha, Maoist terrorists brutally killed Yam Kumari Ale, a resident of Manakamana VDC-5, Gorkha, who had surrendered to the District Administration Office and dissociated herself from terrorist activity. She surrendered to the District Administration about two months ago. An armed group of some seven terrorists killed her when she was sleeping at her own home last Wednesday. Dont practise untouchability, UML workers told Lalitpur, Mar. 24 (RSS): CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has warned that if any CPN-UML office bearer of any level is found practicing or abetting untouchability, he will face severe consequences. CPN-UML general secretary Nepal, who was addressing a seminar on "Constitutional amendment and the rights of the downtrodden" organised jointly by concern Nepal and the Nepal suppressed castes liberation society here today, said that his party has instructed its entire rank and file to launch a campaign against caste discrimination and present themselves as agents of social change. He also stressed the need for the recently formed Dalit Commission to work actively for the rights and welbeing of the downtrodden. RPP general secretary Pashupati Shumsher J.B. Rana stressed the need for the state to make provisions for reservations for the downtrodden in an effort to bring them into the national mainstream. National Assembly Vice-chairman Ramprit Paswan also spoke about the need to work for the rights and welbeing of the downtrodden. Society president Chhabilal Bishwokarma presided. |
